YOUTH ACTIVITIES:

Although most Post Chairmen should have contacted the schools and youth organizations with our scholarship programs in the spring, late August is the perfect time to reconnect with the teachers and youth leaders to remind them of our programs and the deadlines in November. The “It’s About Service Chairman’s Guide” – which has historically contained all the different VFW Programs information in one manual, has been discontinued, and in its place, the VFW Programs office has designed five (5) separate chairman’s manuals for each Program area.  These manuals are:

1.)     Scholarships (with Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen and Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award information.)

2.)    Youth Activities (includes Cadet Recognition Programs, NRA, Sons of the VFW and Scouting information.)

3.)    Community Activities (includes Citizenship Education, Flag Etiquette, Volunteerism, Loyalty Day, Community Service Programs and Awards information.)

4.)    Safety (includes the Law Enforcement/Fire/EMT Public Servant Awards and Recognition Awards information.)

5.)    Buddy Poppy.

Each manual can be found online at http://www.vfwdepartmentresources.org/default.asp?category_id=324
